Rewiring the motor wasn't as successful as I had hoped. I followed Bill Mayo's guidance, however the wire insulation was bad all the way to the windings. Made the best of it, hoping it'll work.
I take my hat off to you Bill, for the more than dozen that you have done...this was NOT fun!

Replaced the quad assy (pork chop), "aligned" the ears and replaced the pin with the "Bill Mayo" bolt. Everything looked good until I installed the quad assy. The pork chop to control sheave bearing button is not centered. Is this "normal"/OK?

All the new ones I have seen, and those I have replaced do center properly.
The phrase that caught my attention, was 'aligned the ears' suggesting you had to entice them into position before Bill Mayo's Modification.
From the vantage point of the picture (which could be an optical distortion) they do not appear perpendicular to the base. It looks like they are twisted just a bit as well, all of which could be optical.
Do you have another known good unit to compare it to?
