Your picture is all I needed, but you are right.
I generally try to run the speed down to slow before turning it off anyway, as the startup current is less in slow, and if I accidentally leave an accessory connected, everyone of them can run safely in slow if I were to power it on without noticing.

Spot on... I run my Mark V and especially the 10ER down to slow before shutting down.
The last thing I need is to mount a 10-12" rough blank on the 10 and forget I had it set at the high end of the low range for final turning and fire it up with the out of round and unbalanced blank.
