Re: Miterset official SS Accessory
It is wonderful to see the names of some former customers who became friends while we were making MiterSets. My husband Dick invented MiterSet, but has been robbed of the ability to continue making them due to Parkinson's Disease and it's effects on his health. MiterSet is now being made by a young man on the East coast, in a "new and improved" anodized Aluminum version, but it continues to be the accurate miter guage setting fixture made in America!Gene Howe wrote:I've owned both the Miter Sets for several years and have found them to be quite accurate for my uses.
My miter gauge is one that Kreg modified for me to fit the SS.
Good to see Gene Howe, Charlese, Dusty, and other names that we had the pleasure to serve in the past! We have missed you all!

Re: Miterset official SS Accessory
I am so sorry to hear about Dick's medical condition. I have placed you both on the prayer list.
As for the miterset, I am sure that it will live on in the new format but I will continue to use those that I have. They show very little wear and tear and are as accurate as ever - dead on. This was an amazing addition to my tool collection and a fine example of Dick's ingenuity.
Thank you for posting this update.

Sandi, it is great to see your post. Tell Dick we are thinking of him often and wish both of you the very best.
Re: Miterset official SS Accessory - Problem Notification
We have found a problem with miter slots of recently shipped MiterSets. The slots are too narrow. The manufacturer has already determined the cause of the problem and corrected it.
Customer service will be contacting those of you who have already had MiterSets shipped. A correctly-made MiterSet will be drop-shipped by the manufacturer. You will not need to return the bad item.

Re: Miterset official SS Accessory
I went ahead and ordered both of the Miter Sets and they are supposed to arrive today. It will be interesting to play with them. As wa2crk said the tolerance for doing rings is 0 if you assemble them as one ring. I tend to use the half ring method which eliminates the whole issue of accuracy. I do that because messing around and getting the cut at exactly the right angle is a pain. It will be interesting to see if the Miter Set is accurate enough to assemble whole rings. I agree with the previous post that the table to blade/ miter slot alignment will have to be perfect, as well as any play between the slot and the miter bar. It does not appear the the slot in the Miter Sets is long enough to allow the use of the Incra adjustable miter bar but if it does then the whole concept is much more doable. Fun stuff though !

Re: Miterset official SS Accessory
Yep that is the case with mine which arrived today. Mine is as much as .008 narrower than the 0.72+/- of my shopsmith miter gauge. In fact it appears to taper inward at the rear of the plate. Might be the machining or the fact they forgot to include the variability of the anodizing after the machining because the width of the slot varies along it's length. Will await the arrival of a replacement
