Er Shaper Fences

Post by ERLover »

I have 3-4 of them and inserts, I am not going to use them for shaping, I use the inserts on my Er dedicated Drill Presses under my 3/4" BB Plywood sacrificial base I lay on the table just in case I go through it.
But looking for any ideas what I could use the fences for? No I know and I dont use the Er for shaping mode. I dont do the Ebay thing, and am not trying to sell them here under the MS radar with this Thread, even though being ER stuff, I would have a case.
Thoughts??

The 'shaper' fence or the 'shaper/jointer' fence?

The 'shaper jointer' fence mounts into the insert hole.

The shaper fence clamps to the front and rear of the table - same hardware as the Mark 5/V500 version.

It is unclear to me when the shaper fence was created, but IIUC it fits both the 10 and the Mark.

Not sure which 'inserts' he is referring to.

Da, the blind man can see, I did NOT know there was a difference :o , I will have look that up, scrutinize them, and get back, but no tonight, the latest ER one had the 2 pins about 2" long and threaded at one end, I think I have 1 other 1 here at moms, the other 1 or 2 is at home in Atown and I wont be up there for 2 weeks, dont remember any pins with those.
Of course pics will be included :D
Thanks for setting me kinda straight

I am starting to feel like Farmer and some of you other Depression Babies, threw nothing away in case you need it, but can never find it when you do, because it is buried under all the other junk, then to find out it will not work, adapt anyway

My 1953 10ER accessories catalog only shows the "shaper/jointer" fence. The MK 5/V came out in 53 so there must have been some overlap in sales. The fact that the MK 5/V shaper fence fits the 10ER is the result of the width of the two tables being the same I would guess. I have never seen any literature that showed the MK 5/V shaper fence was ever sold as a 10ER accessory.

Of course that doesn't mean someone might have bought one for their 10ER if they fit. So your question is a legitimate one.

John thanks for the info, I dont know yet till I look at them here and in Atown. Just know the one I got Saturday with the ER has the 2 pegs, I just assumed the other ones where shaper fence, but now that I think about it, one came with a jointer head, and had a fence that "looked like" a shaper fence, but I know that one is in Atown and wont be up there for 2 weeks.

The 2.5" head is for the '10' shaper jointer 'fence' that attaches at the table insert 'hole'.

The Mark 5 table is 1" 'deeper' than the 10.

My shaper fence is buried, but one end is adjustable sufficiently to accommodate that 1" difference.
