One thing I didn't like is the sheet metal screws being so close to the cables. I added a bit of protection to make sure the screw and cables don't get together...... so if you have the opportunity check to see if any thing else could have happen to the cabling, the connectors and I'd even check the wiring and switch, the main switch to make sure all of that looks and operates normal.
Did you get the upgrade kit or the whole new headstock?
If you have never opened it up or did the upgrade I'd get started now by reading up on the what all has to happen and the few things you might need to have on hand to do the swap. The motor is heavy and knowing how to handle it is going to be an issue. Like wise the other fun stuff that will be required to access the power supply. To be honest I don't know what the manual looks like for the non-upgrade versions, do they have all the instructions needed? If not then make sure that shopsmith is planning on sending them along.
I think it would be nice to have it all apart and waiting the new power supply rather then waiting then taking it apart...........

I agree totally. I bought the Mark 7 with every thing already assembled. The OM says to pull the belt cover and blow out the headstock periodically which I have done, but I haven't gone any farther because of warranty. I am waiting for permission to do just that, and Doug R
eid is working on getting me that permission and the instructions for doing it. To be honest, I am looking forward to "getting inside" the beast. I am 99 percent sure that a component failed just because of the sound it made, so I am confident that a Power Unit (as they call it) will fix the problem. As a side note, any failed component is returned to Teknatool (sp?) (JPG?)

and they don't repair components in house.
So the saga continues, hopefully today, I will know .......
