Craft finishing

The brand will likely make little difference. Try a can of lacquer instead of poly. I use the Ace brand. Cheap and effective.

Test first to make sure the lacquer does not attack the paint.

My wife and I do some craft fairs. I do the woodworking and she does the painting. She uses acrylic craft paints and then finishes with craft urethane matte varnish. We have noticed that when temperatures get very hot the varnish appears to turn a yellow tint most noticeable on the white painted crafts. Any ideas how to stop this. I have never been much of a finisher.

I just had a thought along with an other post here, on the white acrylic paint why do you have to cover it with another product? Unless it just coincides in the assembled product as is basically "over spray"? so to speak?
I dont know what your finished product is, but would the paint be enough by itself?

You have a conflict, the yellow shading of the White Acrylic with a final finish over that and what may work. According to Consumers Reports a gloss bright white exterior latex paint is the most durable for exterior use.
Now if it isa matter of "what your wife wants and thinks" and what works, as far as I am concerned, is your problem/dilema, thats why I am single.

My wife was having the same problems with the finish turning yellow.
She switched brands ect. not happy with any of them.

I told her to try using clear spray paint. I got her a cheap can from wally-world cost under a dollar. and now that is all she uses.
she says the only problem is, she has to let her crafts set outside until the odor is gone.

I make toys that are painted with craft acrylics. If not coated the flat acrylics will get pick up stains easily. Other than that they are quite durable. I paint the wheels and the color takes a lot of rolling to wear through.
