Shopsmith storage cabinet... Again

So 2 things here... First, who says you can have to many shopsmiths... They are great portable supports.

Second, here we go again with another shopsmith cabinet... And I'm following my old pdf file in blind faith. Hope I got the PDF measurements right...

Here is the start of the 3/4" period breakdown... Maybe if this works out I should just build them to sell... Lol

Fantastic stuff! I just finished up my own ShopSmith cabinet, though it was based on the old Hands On model. I like the look of yours, and your instructable was quite good! I might use that when/if I remake my cabinet!

Off to a decent start. A nice new Freud blade cuts like butter... Now if only my Dado didn't tear out like I carved out with my own teeth. Next up, my first attempt at drawers for the center. I figured I would use this as an excuse to attempt an upgrade to my first incarnation.

Oh also I avoid the Dado cutters through the back, I figure 2 sides for the shelves are enough, looks much better in my opinion.

Still maintaining the removable hangers so the cabinet can be unmounted from the shopsmith if I ever so desire,and keep it intact but for a few bolt holes.

Final verdict of my previous design and plans, very precise for the 510 and 520 model. Table tubes come down on both sides of cabinet with only a few millimeters of clearance. Same with the height. Can't wait to see what the premium casters do to the added weight. Here is a picture with the drawer front panel on the table, still need to evaluate drawer sizing.

Lol I mean the ease of pushing it around. It's a lot of weight fully loaded. Will be nice to get it gliding around the floor.

Just a note on dado blades. I bought a Freud Duper Dado set & The cut quality is amazing. No tearout with plywood like me old set.
Worth a little extra to get that result. I got a 6" set. Saves money & I saw no need for an 8" set. The 6" set can cut a way deeper dado than I ever use. I actually found a lightly used one on ebay for around $65 as I recall. (It was a while back)

So I decided to follow your lead Beav and started making the ubiquitous ( don't you love that word !) SS storage cabinets. Got one done and the carcass for the second one done. Two more carcass' cut out and wafered. Lots of sawdust today !

Well done. I have to finish the 3 drawers for my center cabinet still. Never made a drawer before. Lol. Today I added in the shelves and started organizing the cabinets (finding new tools in the process). I also made a lathe chisel rack to attach into one of the drawers (found out I have 2 extra sets). Something very satisfying about shop organization and the ways to organize it.

Productive day yesterday in the shop. Got all twelve drawers cut and glued up. Now I have to size them and install it on the SS. It was complicated by the fact I copped out and went to HD to buy an additional piece of ply for the bottoms. My other choice was to wait until today to buy it from my usual supplier ( Austin Hardwoods). How is it the world can't even make metric plywood at a consistent thickness. I can live with the metric vs standard as I have the metric router bits for 7/32 ply. This stuff was closer to 1/4" but not quite. Not earth shattering but it is annoying. I had already routed the slots for the bottom using the metric bit but only had enough of the ply to make five bottoms. I used the HD ply to make the other seven but had to reroute them at slightly wider to get them to fit. Any way apps well that ends well.
