The reason for my not understanding is not the words, but the reality.

I am not aware of 'any' 'minority' families resident there. Mostly German, Swiss, Norwegian, Swedish and some English. No 'blacks', maybe some North American Indians. This is farming country. The 'county seat' has a population of less than 2500.

Maybe compared to Milwaukee, they are the minority?
