Paul, that's pretty much how we are set up for water. Ours is only a 2500 gal. tank, though. It's under ground and the well pump's out put goes directly into that tank. So, other than head pressure, the well pump doesn't need to work as hard. Estimates of our well pump's life was 8 years when we had it installed. We've far exceeded that.

I used to years ago but not any more.ERLover wrote:JB you have a garden??jsburger wrote:Gene,Gene Howe wrote:Chris, somewhere between ten and seventeen gal. Per hour. For an eight hour day, about one third of what a typical four person household uses in the same time.
The difference is that much of that seventeen gallon can be re used. As opposed to the water used in the typical household.
I have cooled with a house swamp cooler for 22 years. Please explain what water is able to be re-used?

Re: A new adventure begins !
I just spent four days in Las Vegas working on the house and getting ready for the move. Part of this trip over was to get a price on getting AC into the garage. Interesting that the AC contractor that showed up seems to be a fairly high level woodworker. He did not recommend installing the AC. He told me to try an evaporative cooling unit called Portacool first. HD sells them and apparently they are very effective for what appears to be about a third of the cost and running cost is way lower. I went over to the HD and they have them in stock and the best part is that per HD policy if I don't like it I can return it for full refund. I am going to get one and try it. They have them at HD running in the garden shop and they were very effective. I like the idea they are portable on wheels ( like a SS !) which will allow me to direct it where I want and move it out of the way during winter.

Tapping into a house HVAC for a garage could be a building code issue for return air/carbon monoxide concerns. In any case, good luck with the move & remodeling!

Not to mention a gas tank leak or storing anything with gas in it, lawn morrow, snow blower. It is a Code violation if an air return is there for sure, and maybe even if no return. Not to mention Carbon Monoxide if running the care in there.Stoofdriver wrote:Tapping into a house HVAC for a garage could be a building code issue for return air/carbon monoxide concerns. I remember reading an article about concerns with the new cars, as long as the key bob is in your pocket, just hit the start button, well in 2 I remember, came home, parked in the garage and did not turn off the car. I dont know where there bedrooms where, maybe above the garage, went to bed, DOA the next morning.
