Mark 7 Cracked Carriage

Post by brown50 »

I have a Mark 7 which is just now 2 years old. The Carriage is cracked on the front side where the Table Support Tubes fit.

I was getting ready to turn some pens using the Universal tool rest when I noticed the crack. The last thing I had done that required the table was the drill press to prep the pen blanks a couple of weeks ago.

Is it possible that you tightened the hold down bolts too much when you last used the Universal Tool rest?

WoW! Has anyone ever seen this? I can't imagine how that could occur. SS carriages have been around for almost for ever :).

I expect the MS will make you whole.

The Universal Tool Rest does not put any pressure on that area.

What area does it place under stress?
