Edited 10/26/2016: Go to http://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/viewt ... 87#p222987 for an easier, cheaper three port version.
Made a little change to my dust collection. Two ports and a closed position.
Hope this will be of help to someone.

Re: Dust Collection Port
Modified elbow inside 'can' and aligned with hole and the whole thing inserted into a 4" to 3" coupling?????
What else is inside the hex box?

Re: Dust Collection Port
The modified elbow with 3" long by 3" diameter CPVC goes inside the top of the 4" CPVC. Just being frugal and not buying a 4" to 3" reducer. The hexagon goes on the outside bottom of the 4" CPVC. My original thought was 3 ports with a closed area between each one but you would have to go to 6" CPVC. The sole purpose of the hexagon is for 2 1/4" holes to hold the dust collection hoses.

Re: Dust Collection Port
So the 3" L was butchered to get the flange only.

Re: Dust Collection Port
Exactly on the 3" elbow. I cut it out of a washing machine drain on our last house flip.
Thanks for the compliment on the drawings. I putter with Sketchup occasionally.

Re: Dust Collection Port
Improved cheaper version with three ports. To simplify even more, scrap the part where I put 7/16" blocks on the inside corners and just glue up two 2"x4"x36". I would joint or plane the surfaces that are being glued together. Edit: You might want to make the aluminum can first and turn the approximate 6 1/8" hole to fit.
I used a 4" hole saw to cut out the top after turning. The three port holes were drilled with a 2 1/4" hole saw and drum sanded to size of hose.
Drill only one hole in the aluminum insert. Aluminum is 3 7/16" x 20 5/8" with a one inch overlap.

- I used aluminum in this version, easier on the hole saw. 3" toilet flange.

Re: Dust Collection Port
This is too good for dust collection which is made by wood.
