I think all areas of the country has problems and things we probably could do without.
Wind, flood, earth quake, sink holes, storms, fires, snow, drought, hurricanes, tornados, mudslides, insects, and on and on.
You have to decide. Do you like changing seasons? Heat, humidity, snow, ice. Rain or near desert. Lakes, ponds dry land. Crowds or no body for miles in any direction. How is your health do you go to doctor, hospital, emergency center. What about Fire and police protection?
Noise near international airport or having to travel for an hour to fly somewhere. If you have kids, If school age how are the schools, if they are grown how far are you going to be from them. Same thing for parents they may need you to be near to help them. You may need your kids to help you.
There are a thousand decisions. And you may regret most of those decisions once you make them. I had a buddy buy a 5 acre lot covered with pine trees. Hacked his way in and cleared an area.for the house. He could stand stark naked on his porch on Sunday afternoon and no one would know. Had two problems water well was over 1000 feet deep and the pump would draw dry if ran very long. Second problem an ice storm brought down a lot of the pine trees. They get heavy bend over building spring energy and when they break they fly horizontally like a rocket. He had a 12 - 16 incher come flying through his bathroom window just as his daughter walked out. A second delay on her part or if the tree had snapped a second sooner she would have been in trouble.
If you over think it you will probably never move.
