What is Going On?

Re: What is Going On?
I've been working on my wood project a little each day. I check in on the forum a couple of times a day.
It is too cold to be out running around. We picked up almost 30 inches of snow in the past week or so and the temps are in the -20s in the mornings now.
It is great weather to be working in a nice warm basement workshop.
Winter is the only time I get around to my woodworking so I appreciate it.

-20*F sucks!!! Remember in 79, had 1 -25* then 7 days later a -27*, all week in between never went above 0*, then hit 30*, it felt like a heat wave!!!!garys wrote:I've been working on my wood project a little each day. I check in on the forum a couple of times a day.

The Greatness officially starts
Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them.

Re: What is Going On?
Been really busy not getting nearly enough accomplished.
Been doing a lot of fence work, water system work, horse drinking water heater work for self-care boarders. Getting ready for 2 more client horses coming in over the next couple of days, both rescues, one in fairly bad shape...
Had to go to the farm store (Rural King) to get some stuff and we did a bit of Xmas shopping. Bought an early Xmas present for me, Ruger 380 LCP.
Came home and cut and loaded a half a pick-up load of firewood.
Diana and I walked back to the back of the farm to check an area where our own 6 horses are currently grazing, moved a fence to add some area, got everybody properly hugged and petted...
New belt on the furnace blower.
Sorted a little stuff in the woodshop.
At least I got the important stuff done.

Re: What is Going On?
Jim, my best CC is my Beretta .380 in a flat I phone style holster, my car piistola is a Colt Light Weight .45ACP. The house has my Colt Gold Cup .45ACP near the recliner, I say, get them at the perimeter/door, not when inside!robinson46176 wrote:Been really busy not getting nearly enough accomplished.![]()

Here in Central Indiana I have seen Christmas at -20 for a week and one year I recall Christmas day at 70... It's 30 right now with a high of about 40 today.
Northern Indiana has had some snow but here we have had nothing but a "dusting" so far.
This is when I appreciate my basement woodshop the most except most of my other shops have had a lot of windows and I love windows (except as an operating system

Re: What is Going On?
I got to spend a little time working on my variable-speed dust collector project. But most of the day was taken up with a few mundane chores, buying a Christmas tree from the boy-scout tree lot and getting it set up, and then going to a neighborhood party. Tis the season.
Re: What is Going On?
Yep. Supposed to be 65 by Wednesday. But, it's down hill from there. January and February are our coldest months. Often negative numbers.JPG wrote:'Out' all day. Light 'dusting' of snow yesterday AM. Been below freezing since. 62°????

Re: What is Going On?
Moggymatt. Did read this right you got 3" of snow and you worked all morning shoveling and snow blowing it? Doing what?moggymatt wrote:We got 3" of snow last night. So yah, I've been shoveling/snowblowin all morning. Got a good size drive and 1st snow always takes the longest. Might get in the shop here soon after coffee.
Word of advice never move to where they get 3 feet of snow at once you would never get it cleared off.

Gene, any Flakes?Gene Howe wrote:Not any snow in Snowflake. 62 degrees. It would melt if any fell.
Just cleaning and organizing stuff in the shop.
The Morris chair and ottoman went to the upholsterers yesterday.
Getting ready to finish up a jewelry chest build.
You know I had to ask.
Incidentally, (speaking of Flakes) remember the story about
the 23 dead dogs in Gilbert? You know, the junior Senator's
son, who actually DID the crime, seems that took place next
door to Jeffy Flake's cousin, my older brother.

10 ER, stripped down.
Basic 10ER, Parts machine. Will be a semi-dedicated drill-press machine.
10 ER, a "survivor" of the trailer fire, in the back yard, needing restoration. Has a Mk5 headrest. Finally, stripped down.
Numerous parts, for Model 10 stuff. Except for lower saw guard, A and B adapters, I've got it.
Looking for one more, or some 9 inch extension table raisers.
