Copied these photos over from part II so they are all in the same thread.

Headstock "A" (on the left)
- older of the two
- has the double wedge locks
- originally made as a Demonstrator (second nameplate on the back side) and I am guessing the serial # starts with 234--. I have #23430
- no hole behind the front name plate
Headstock "B" (on the right)
- newer
- has single wedge locks
- hole behind the front name plate.

Re: A Tale Of Two Head stocks
I have one of those demo machines. It has a decal on the back side not an ID plate. My understanding is that these were Montgomery Wards demo machines not Magna. The SN of mine is 69356 which by Skip's list is a '52 machine.rpd wrote:Thank you for posting, This is fun.DOWeaver wrote:I know everyone on this forum seems to like pictures and " What is this"

I have not restored it yet because I want to have a decal made (me or someone else) and make sure it will work before I destroy the original.
Maybe what I could do is mask off the original, blast and paint the head stock and have the original decal in place. I will have to think about that.

Re: A Tail Of Two Head stocks
Just as a matter of interest, this is the back side of mine with the extra name plate.

Note the extra hole that the power cord is routed through and the small bolt close to it to clamp the cord on the inside.
