Incra Box Joint

OKAY. I am done debating this decision. I thank all of you who responded. I placed an order today for an Incra I-Box.

I have not yet assembled it but I received my I-Box from Incra today. As has always been the case with Incra, I am impressed. Starting with the package of parts one sees evidence of quality and caring. Everything is packed neatly and properly prepared for the hazards of shipping. The users guide is a work of art on heavy duty, glossy paper. I read through the instructions and am a bit confused about a couple things but that will most probably clear up when I actually do the assembly.

I think you are right, John. I believe I will like it - probably so much that I will discard my old box joint jig.

I hope so. When you get it dialed in it is perfect. Dialing things in is what you do best. There is a bit of a learning curve but not much. Pay attention to the instructions and the video. I found them to be spot on. Once you get your head around what they are saying it makes sense.

I use the Forrest 1/4 and 3/8 inch blade set. There are no shims so they are dead on. If using a standard dado set your success may vary.

I was watching the video. That hinge crafter is slick! It is always something .... LOL

Putting the I-Box together and making it ready seems as though it should be a piece of cake. It probably is, if you read and follow the directions and do nothing else. Don't look at pictures. Not even those posted here on the forum. There are subtle differences.

For use with a Shopsmith (tilting table), should the I-Box be assembled per the left tilt or the right tilt instructions?

I choose to treat mine as though it was a left tilt. Hope that is what every one with a Shopsmith has done or I am the odd man out.

I have the red adjustment know on the left end of the I-Box when viewing it as thought I was working at the table saw. In this configuration I have the Miter Bar Assembly installed to the left of the cutout for the blade/bit.

The T portion of the Miter Bar is on the side nearest the operator.

Now I have it fully assembled and I believe I have followed all of the directions for use on a left tilt table saw. BUT mine does not match the picture on the top of the box. I have a mirror image of what is on the box.

Is this a difference that occurs if I switch to a router setup????

Dusty, did you have the bolt head clearance problem that reible discussed in his thread, or have they fixed that ... Just wondering ...
