Re: Busy two days in the shop
She designed the table to be Art Deco and that type of base is either called a pyramidal or empire style. The base turned out to be much heavier than I expected which was an added benefit. I made the boxes out of poplar and then laminated ~ 3/8 mahogany onto them. That allowed me to split 4/4 mahogany in half and get more mileage out of the mahogany. Hope you like it when it's done !

Finished sanding this morning and put the first coat on. Now it's just a matter of how many coats and how high a gloss she wants.

VERY NICE!
I would like to see the backgammon board that it will support.

Re: Busy two days in the shop
The backgammon set is a point of contention here JPG. I am not enamored with that choice. We will see. According to the other party involved lucite was just coming into play at the tail end of the Art Deco era so she found a backgammon set made of clear plexi which I made the table to fit. I was more in for a wooden inlay type board but alas I was overruled. I have learned not to argue. This is the woman who bought me a power pro upgrade because she thought it might come in handy.
