ShopSmith Jointer model # 505681
I just got a ShopSmith 10er. The person I got it from only used it for the lathe. this is the first ShopSmith that I have owned...actually never heard of them. I have been doing woodworking/carpeting for 15+ yrs. I love working with wood. And when this guy told me he had a lathe ....I jumped on it. Long story short...I got a Jointer with it and there isnt any bracket that it can mount to. I have researched alot . And there is alot about the Mark V and up. I could use any and all advice I can get with this. I am in the process of cleaning the old rust off and plan on restoring it as much as possible. But an also excited about learning all that this All in One can do!

I think we need a picture of the jointer.
Most shopsmith stuff today is mark 5/V version. There is some that is 10 E/ER only.
We need to know what you have.
Oh, and welcome!!!!

If they were wider than 2050 OR taller than 1180 pixels or larger than 2 mb then they did not get uploaded.
Try resizing them and retrying.

Also, check out this manual and see if that is the jointer system you have. The mounting hinge is notoriously vulnerable to breakage, presumably when the jointer is dropped. But if the jointer headrest is installed on your machine, that's a dead giveaway. The standard headrests don't have those hinge-mounting ears sticking out the backside.

When you attempt to post pictures and they do not -- does the forum software not tell you why?Bander24 wrote:ok well I guess I don't know how to post my pics. I uploaded them and attached them....but I do not see them....can someone suggest what I did wrong?

I bought an adaptor from Skip at MKC Tools that allows mounting of newer Mark V stuff on a 10er. Well built.

You need a 4E jointer with the proper head rest. The first picture. Those parts are very rare.Bander24 wrote:Thank you all for you response...I don't have time to talk right now...late for Pool leaguue. I will respond when I get back later tonight. All great infomation I needed...THANK YOU..
Or you can use the MK V Jointer or other MK V SPT if you have the 10ER adapters. Good luck in finding them. I have the only complete set I have ever seen on eBay after years of looking.
I would get the adapter Skip Campbell sells. It is high quality and will let you use MK V SPTs on the 10ER. You will also need the head stock pulley that Skip makes that allows the MK V coupler to attach to the 10ER head stock.
The first picture is the original Magna 10ER 4E jointer. The second picture is the original Magna adapter set for MK V STP tools.
