Countersinking the bar was a workaround prior to discovering the screws s/b undercut.

I don't want to have to countersink it myself. If I mess it up, then it is my mistake. I want them to send me the right hardware.

It does NOT need to be countersinked. That is the reason for the truncated screw heads. Again AIUI.

I wonder how many of the people with newer iboxes have the wrong parts. Other then not being able to get the bar fit correct you will not notice the issue. And that might be subjective, there is no measurement just the feel that you are looking for, some are more picky some are not.

Had I not had previous experience with Incra I might have just thought that the fit was as good as it got. In my case I knew it could be better.

I still have my "new" screws somewhere, since I had countersunk already there was no reason to but the new screws in as the issue was fix. I don't see any big issue with the countersinking process, that was how they had done if for years and you are only holding some nylon split washers sort of parts in, not the stress of other more mechanical joints.

You still have plenty of threads left to hold unless you mess up and go too deep....... Still better for them to send the correct screws if you can wait. Best if they can get the issue taken care of so it never happens again.

I think my 'recollection' re it being about the miter head was inaccurate(it was about the miter rail width adjustment thingies). All the rest I believe was accurate.

Geez, a simple mis-statement in an initial post can get us all confused. Glad that got corrected.

That is what is wrong with email, nobody talks in real time so you can't correct a misstatement in real time or question what the person really means or discuss any other issues.

I will call Monday and have them send the correct hardware (undercut screws). It is annoying that this continues to be a problem. I had the same issue on my v120.

I'm guessing that a LOT of people have these issues with Incra products and, as reible says, don't know any better.

It gets worse. Spoke to Mark at Incra and he says they have never heard of this problem before and don't have substitute screws. Amazing.

Well it has been a few years since this all started, perhaps he has forgotten. Send him an email with pictures of the replacement parts that were sent out and see if that helps......... Clearly either the bar needs to be countersunk or the screws have to be different.

I think I recall posting a picture of the new screws they sent out...... I'll check later and see if I can find them. Don't recall if there was a part number associated or just the bag and screws and a piece of paper.

I have to do this from memory. When I found the problem I had contacted Incra (Mark) and he had indicted that the bar should have been countersunk. He offered to replace my "defective" part but I declined and went about doing the countersinking. This was the second issue I had found, the first being the bolt issue. He had indicted they had a fix which wasn't clear from the description as being a toilet bolt. He said he would send that fix to me.

Shortly after shopsmith and incra must have gotten together and I received the toilet bowl fix from shopsmith. The undercut screws I think came from incra. I can not swear to it but that is how I remember it. When Mark and I corresponded he did not mention those screws as being an option.

The important point is that incra supplied those screws even if shopsmith might have sent them to me. Incra also likely supplied the paperwork included. I still have the unused screws but I didn't get to looking for them today, maybe sometime later in the week????
