Good afternoon JPG,
I picked up a shopsmith at the town dump recently. Needed to reverse engineer the power plant lock to get it from moving down the rails. Question, just bought some sanding parts from Shopsmith and a instruction manual but none of the Mark V model 500 or Mark V model 510 pats match my machine.
The red disc has Model ER serial no. ER35189. wish to find a shop manual to learn about the RPM speeds and set ups.

I have moved your question to it's own thread.

What you have is a Shopsmith 10er which predates the Mark 5. The were made from 1947 through 1953.

Also, join the 10ER users group over on Yahoo Groups. There are a bunch of great people over there too who know everything about these machines. They've helped me out on two restores. You can access the site here:

No matter how rough the machine is you can restore it with a little work and usually just a few reasonably available and priced parts. Here are some photos of my most extensive restore of one of these machines:
