The big mistake was forgetting to mask off the placement of the fenders before painting the body. I only hope my pegging them with three 1/8" dowels will be enough to hold them on.
The other challenge was trying to drill holes for the tail lights because of the curves. Tried one with no success so I filled it with a dowel and sanded it down. Paint covered the error. Tried using red paint on the eraser of a pencil but not great so I looked around to see alternatives and found some red tape with a rubber backing. I used a leather punch to cut a circle and stuck it on. I hope the sticky backing and two coats of finish will hold them on. After all this, I realized that using the Shopsmith in horizontal boring mode might have allowed me to drill at the proper angle and use dowels for the light which is what I usually do.
On the painting side, it seems with my less than steady hands, I do a lot of touch up of the touch ups. The down side of aging I guess.
The plans come from a set I bought around 20 years ago when I bought my Shopsmith and first got serious about woodworking. I think I got them from The Winfied Collection. I now need to find some smaller ones or try to scale these down to fit smaller scrap pieces.
Well, back to the scrap heap.

If you scan in your existing plans or even take a picture of them and load that picture on your computer, you can set "actual" size to a smaller one, then print it out as a smaller copy of the original. The original intent of the software is to use a picture to make large scale printable drawings, however I find I use it more for scaling down drawings.
