I don't know if it will solve it completely but it will be an improvement for sure. We will know for sure once the table is reassembled. Either way it is something that needs to be corrected.

Yes it needs to be corrected, but will only piecmeal the 'problem'.

It is possible(?) the trunion holes are also displaced?

I be curious if when the trunions are laid on the flat side with the holes facing whether the smaller holes look centered the same as the larger holes as one looks through the far end of the larger holes.

I have one extra set on trunions; ie I have three active table set ups and four sets of trunions. One of those sets of trunions still has the 3/8" holes in the rear trunion. Guess where it is. It is not the spare set! It is part of my goto Model 520.

If you search back through the forum for discussions about these trunion holes, you will find several where I have stated that I regret drilling mine. I just hope that doing this resolves your problem.

If Shopsmith does what I expect them to do, I would be interested in acquiring your "defective rear trunion".

I will give it some thought. At this point I just want to solve the blade problem and get some work done. If this doesn't solve it I may just forget the whole thing and live with the offset blade. As far as I can tell we have exhausted all other possibilities. Now that I have a trunnion picture I can show Shopsmith when I call them back tomorrow. I will put the table back together and take a picture from the topside as you requested. I guess as a last resort I could trim the rubber buffer to bring the blade into line. This blade offset problem has been a day one problem with this machine and I'm really tired of fighting it. You guys have been great. I don't think Shopsmith support could do any better on troubleshooting the problem. I don't know if this is even an issue but the only modifications to this table so far is it has been converted to double tilt. I don't see how that could change anything. The blade position didn't move after the upgrade.

One after thought. One variable we have not explored fully is the shaft length of a fully retracted quill. Would you mind measuring the shaft length without a blade? Measure from the end of the shaft to the knurled knob. Since everything else is solid metal maybe the quill is the defect. It's a shot in the dark but I am out of ideas.

The quill shaft is 1-1/4" from the silver ring to the tip. Picture to follow.

Had my shoes and socks off so I had to get some slippers on to go get a picture but here it is:

In theory the arbor will slip on up to the silver ring so if it is a bit short you will not notice........... but just to be complete.

You mentioned the dual tilt, from shopsmith?

Mine is 1-1/4 also so that's not it. After I talk to Shopsmith tomorrow I am going to put the table back together and see what we see. The double tilt kit was from Shopsmith. My master plan was to upgrade everything then do the headstock last but retirement caught me early. I got every upgrade but the Pro Headstock.
