A general motor question??

We will give it a try, it makes sense anyway at this point.

Have to take trip out to our local science and surplus store switch shopping. Maybe I'll make a bud box with the forward/reverse switch.

This if it works will save me a lot of effort, the original plan was to turn the motor round for reverse, a mechanical solution but this will be a much better plan.

I retract my statement regarding cutout switch and weak motor. At 9A, the voltage drop would be only 5+ volts.

As I think I mentioned, when I was taking it apart I found that the power was going through just a couple of strands of wire the rest had broken off. That couldn't have helped.

If the problem is still there when it back together I can just pull the cutout switch and solder a wire to bridge the terminals.... maybe just a jumper to test it out first of course.

Progress.

I was able to get the motor base mounted after the paint dried and then wired in a switch in to see if the assumed wiring allowed the motor to run both directions.

Yes I know it looks like a rats nest but I have not yet figured out how to house it so the leads are plenty long.

OK if you must know, it worked! Now the value of my 10ER has going up a lot in my eyes.
