i acquired a used gray scrollsaw for my 510 and of course, the blower doesn't work. when i removed the cover to access the air pump, the shaft is there, the white plastic "cup" is in place, and there is a clear plastic disc covering the cup. the schematic says there is supposed to be a pump seal and "special" washers. i'm not sure what the seal or washers are supposed to look like but i'm guessing i'll have to remove the roll pin to get the pump shaft free to place on the seal and washers. any tips on removing the roll pin without damaging it or should i plan on replacing it?

I believe the white plastic cup is the seal, and the clear plastic disc is the special washer. Before doing any further disassembly add one or two drops of oil as per the maintenance section of the manual. The pump 'rod' has washer above the leather 'pump seal' then another washer below the seal, then a flat washer and a nut holding it together. The 'tube seal' is a clear plastic piece that seals the end of the tube top.
The leather acts as a valve(air bypasses it on the up stroke and the leather acts as a piston on the down stroke).
The tube seal is to prevent dust entry, but I think it may also act as an intake valve.
The leather must be soft and pliable. Oil keeps/restores it that way.

thanks for the info. i wonder why the schematic calls 'em "special" washers. in any event, i'm more worried about damaging the roll pin that holds the rod to the bottom arm. any advice on its removal?

I do not think damage to the pin will occur if a proper sized pin punch is used.
The arm must be well supported.
As for "special", that means the washers are not a 'standard' size.

I understand that this doesn't directly answer the question, but thought it might help. My Delta scroll saw blower was awful. In talking to those who scroll regularly - many use aquarium pumps for blowers to clear dust from the pattern. Here's a pic of mine. You can't see the pump because it behind the box fan (collecting dust). The pump was garage sale find.
