Their cat is an insatiable eater, and even though they keep the bread on top of the fridge, he manages to get up there and destroy the loaf.

Instead of using hinges I made a linkage on each side so the lid pivots up and sits on the top.
It took a bit of trial and error to get the length and position of the arms right, but it works like a champ.
And here it is in it's new home, making the world a safer place for loaves of bread.
In the making of this bread box I needed a dado insert for the 10er, A few minutes with the bandsaw, disk sander, drill press, and a scrap of wood, and I was good to go, This was the first zero clearance insert I've made, but it won't be the last.
