A bit more progress on the bears today.

The pattern also has the location for the eyes and nose by way of some small holes that accommodate a map pin (to mark with).

You can see the resulting marks here:

Then it is off to the drill press to drill the non through holes.

Now I did a light sanding and got rid of the fluff left by the routing operation. Then off to become a bear color of sorts:

Tomorrow it will be on to waxing and perhaps stringing. The end is in site.

I did manage to finish both bears, actually it was yesterday since it about 12:32 of the new day....... not that it matters.

So here they are with eyes and noses installed and all waxed up:

Here is a shot of one of them corded:

Note the knots that keep the bear from sliding all the way down and pinching little fingers.......

There is a video posted but I might want to get a better one with more light and in a better location. Just needed to test them to make sure they were working right and thought I'd get a video...... well so much for that.

Finally got around to posting a better video of the climbing bear in action. This one features two of my grandchildren making the bear climb. My son took the video but said it was OK for me to post on youtube.

This is a bear from some years ago with the natural wood finish, each of my kids families have one now I have to decide if I want to make 11 more, one of each of the grand kids to have when they are grown to share with their family when the time comes.

Very cool Ed ! Thanks for the inspiration. Now that we have our first grand son I want to get in to making a few toys. That bear is definitely on my list. I am going to attempt a rattle this weekend.
