Something like that if the connectors are right might make a big difference for you in the PowerPro.
I always hesitate on custom building electrical due to insurance.
If we had a fire and the fire Marshall said they found non standard wiring present in the rubble, the insurance adjuster would try to wiggle out of covering it, even if it could not be attributed to the cause.
Just something to consider even if you can make the pigtail yourself.

Assuming that the cable is made with an appropriate gauge wire, what is placed at risk?
As I see it, ONLY the 110 vac device that has 220 vac applied to it; my Shopsmith Mark V, Model 510 would certainly not survive.

Google 120 to 240v adapter. They're pretty common and under $10. That will let you keep a 120v plug on the SS and plug it into a 240v outlet. There are several different pin types for 240, so choose the right one for your outlet.

I haven't been on in a long time. I just did the power pro upgrade. The difference between 1 1/8 hp that my 510 had to now is like night and day. It is so quite and smooth cutting I can't believe it. I should have done this when Nick first talked about it. Anyway I would imagine the difference between 1 3/4 hp to 2 would be just as significant and dual power cords seems like it would work provided you had a way of insulating the other cord as there could be live electricity on it. Just my two cents and good to see you still here Dusty.

I would assume that using 220v would increase the life of the motor and electronics. The current draw is reduced by increasing the voltage when doing the same work. P=V*I. The power lost to heat is (I^2) * R so theres less heat with higher voltage. Electronics and motor winding insulation last longer when running cooler.
I'd bet the Power Pro drive is using pulse width modulation to get the variable speed so the motor leads all run through an SCR bank (silicone controlled rectifiers) or equivalent. That means the motor windings are in series with electronics devices.
I'd be curious if SS keeps statistics for failure rates and warranty claims for Power Pros run on 220 or 120v. Probably. There may not be a difference because 120v motors are pretty well built and last decades under normal use. Bearings wear out before the installation goes.

I started out on 220 with mine so I am not sure the difference when it’s on 110. Compared to the old 1 1/8 it is a world I’d difference. It takes the SS to an entirely different level. In TS and bandsaw mode it will cut through just about whatever you feed it.

What is the downside of running the power pro with 220? Putting a 220 outlet in my shop would be fairly simple as the panel box is right outside my shop's cinderblock wall... all I see are advantages... are there any problems that I would be causing by changing over? The powerpro has been a joy on 110, and not a glitch in the year and a half Since I converted it... man, that should jinx me for sure...
