Many factors come into play that are all unknowns. Example: Did the package get properly addressed? Was there a return address as well?
And, how was it 'packaged'?

Seller mailed it by Priority Mail in an appropriate size shipping envelope they said.

The post office put their barcodes etc on it.

We don’t know much more than it showed up at the LA distribution center and was scanned then sent to “Next USPS center” 52 minutes later when it was scanned on its way out, and went somewhere and hasn’t been scanned anywhere since.

Three days of end of day status same updates (not physical scans) at 00:00:00 then nothing.

That’s all so far.

I realize it is easy for us to blame USPS for items getting lost but in this case they own it. It has been 13 days without a tracking update and it is a tracked package so they should know where it is. We all know accidents happen but even if the package was in a truck involved in an accident losing that mail, they would still know what tracked packages were lost. My two cents worth.

I guess it goes without saying that USPS has been contacted and they have been of no help.

I have not given up all hope.

My suspicions are that the envelope perhaps got stuck to an another item, and was incorrectly delivered without being scanned to another mail recipient who gets volumes of shipments inbound and hasn't discovered it.

Now, depending on how long it is before they discover it, and how honest they are, it may surface again and be delivered.... hopefully to me, and not my heirs years from now.

Alternatively, it may be in a USPS conveyor pathway somewhere, slung up and off the conveyor into an area folks do not frequent except to lubricate the system periodically. That would be found on a maintenance cycle some day.

We can hope.

Everett, maybe you should run out and buy some lottery tickets -- you're on a roll! I presume that you're a guitar player, as well as an historian?

I contacted the seller simultaneously as she contacted me that it had been found.

They had refunded my money which I immediately offered to pay again when it shows up next week. She would not hear of it and stated she knew it would benefit others.

Really nice seller.

And, yes I play the guitar a little, write songs, re-verse songs with alternate lyrics, write poetry and prose and share my faith with folks who listen.

Like most writers I try to touch on current discussions we are engaged in all across America.

Here’s a sample piece I wrote recently.

Yes! College Should Be Free for All Americans ©Everett L. Davis 2018

College should be free from the political biases of the professors and their personal political or religious beliefs.

College should be a free and open crucible where all ideas are discussed and examined in civility and respect.

College should be free of political correctness and oppressive behaviors exhibited toward or from those who do not agree with you.

College should be free of violence and intimidation by anyone at any time.

College should be free and a place where Conservative speakers and Liberal speakers are welcomed in proportion and not censored by administration, Alumni, and faculty.

College should be a place where students grades earned freely are representative of their knowledge of the subject being presented whether they agree or disagree with the premise or theory presented.

College should be a place where the capacity of learning is freely expanded and nurtured in the student opposed to their indoctrination of assigned views.

There are many things college should be “Free of”, and certainly within those who receive a singe tax dollar.

College should be a beacon and a lighthouse illuminating and promoting freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of association, freedom of expression, indeed all Constitutional freedoms guaranteed to Americans.

Yes, college should be free.

We need to work diligently to insure they are indeed, free and point out every variation from freedom wherever it manifests itself.
