bevel cut on bandsaw

What type of jig should I make when making a 5 degree bevel cut on a 3 inch high by 1 1/2 inch thick board. I am trying to put a bevel on both side of the piece.

You don’t say how long this board is but I’m not sure you need a jig, just a rip fence. Set table to 5 degrees and rip the bevel on the first face. Tape the cut off back on, spin the board 180 degrees and rip the other bevel.

Just a word of caution on bevel cutting on band saws , be very very aware of where your fingers are all the time . as far as a jig I agree you may not need one , however is this piece going to be hollow? if so maybe a jig with a dowel part way through the center to set the wood on so it doesn't index .

I'm unsure of what is to be accomplished but if I understand the objective I would do this with a disk sander. Preferably the conical disk sander.

The setup will be tricky no matter how the material is to be removed.

My advice assumes bevels are to be cut into the 3 inch tall faces, not a single edge

I would still attempt to do this with the conical disk though 3" may be just a bit much.

A 5° bevel over 3" would be inset only slightly over 1/4".

I agree conical sander is a desirable method. Kinda close quarters though.

Yes too long can be a problem.

Does it need to be done on a bandsaw? A MKV can made this cut in table saw mode and a rub strip for the second cut is how I'd go.

Or simply adjust the table 5° more. Use quill to adjust 'width'.

OK, I can see how it can be done with the disk sander or a table saw. But I see no reason why it couldn't be accomplished on the band saw.
