I'm between a rock and a hard place on this. Way back when, after the Sawdust Sessions stopped, I was quite vocal (including a letter to Shopsmith) about how important it was for Shopsmith to be visible. I included reference to FB in that letter. I have since abandoned Facebook and Pinterest and now I have become isolated from a lot of good information.
Good question, Dusty. I know I am a newbie here, but having tried to read and "catch up" on some of the older posts on this forum, it seems like Shopsmith would chime in every now and then on this forum in the past. Hasn't this disappeared more recently? Only briefing perusing the Customer Service page on FB it is already quite active in a short time, but more importantly there are actual Shopsmith employees posting and responding there. Now, a lot of the posts on FB tend to be superficial and only skim the surface of an issue....so for sure, a lot of the posts on this forum have more depth and technical knowledge in comparison. Only time will tell how much "technical" help can be received from Shopsmith on the FB side, but at least they are trying to connect with customers, even if it is only from a customer service perspective.

Has disappeared MORE RECENTLY? NO!

Shopsmith (Shopsmith representatives) have made very few comments on the forum and this has been the case every since I joined.

Nick Engler posted every now and then but even he was not a frequent poster.

I have a 'feeling' that this is a liability issue. On most of the other sites where sponsor comments are regular the commentor is now closely tied to a manufacturer. Just a feeling.

Nope, no way, to many breeches on these sites. I have never been on any site that has had breeches over the past few years and I want to keep it that way. If the industry finally figures out how to fix the problem maybe. I doubt I will live long enough to see that. It is only getting worse with no end in site.
John, this forum is social media.

I knew someone would say that. It may be technically called social media but it is not social media in the same way Facebook, Twitter and some of the other ones are.

As far as that picture on Pintrest, I suspect it came from Doug Reid. I sent it to him years ago and it is still on his web site with the same title.

Again no thanks to Facebook and the rest of the data gathering/sharing insecure social media web sites.
