Stainless Shopsmith Screws

Post by jsburger »

I just found this site. I found it from a picture on Skip's Yahoo web site that had a picture of a bag of screws that had the web site on it.

John,

Thanks for finding this. Shipping is cheap from this place and the prices are reasonable. Also, I like that all of the hardware is stainless.

I have seen the eBay ads and I think it has a links to their online store. I have considered getting a Mark 5 set if I find a March 1957 Greenie to restore which I would keep.

Unlike those for the Mark 5/V the set screw set for the Model 10's only include 3 of the 7 set screw sizes the Model 10 uses. Early Model 10E's use 6 different set screws if it has the clamp on gauge collar. You would have to buy three sets to get enough of the 3/8"-16x1/2" set screw while substituting 3 of them with shorter ones. I recommend up to five of them being shorter anyway. You will also have a lot of extra of the other two and still need 3 or 4 other sizes. I do not know why they have not put together a complete set for the Model 10E and 10ER.

My Model 10ER S/N R64000 has all stainless Set screws and other fasteners which I was able to buy locally. This was the first Model 10 I restored and I later replaced the fasteners.

Below is a PDF listing the set screws used on the Model 10E and 10ER plus accessories. Note. the part numbers are from the later Model 10ER, after the November 1951 part number change, when set screws of the same size used the same P/N. The earlier Model 10's had different part numbers for each set screw use. A Model 10E has (if I counted correctly) 18 3/8"-16x1/2" set screws with 11 different part numbers.
