all running fine.

using Flying Dutchman scroll saw blades and it works great, just like I remember from the 80's when I use to use my first one.

last questions: when you take off your cover and gasket.
Do you see a pool of oil
?

Thanks for all the help
John
I would expect a lot of oil.

You DID refill it after draining it?

BTW how fast are you running it?

ALSO is the vent hole(teeny tiny) in the side of the case clear?

yes refilled it,
running on a or b on the dial

teeny tiny hole is clear.

changing the blades aren't as easy as my dewalt scroll saw, probably use it as a jig saw more than anything.
didn't really need it, just wanted it.

If the plastic yoke is worn, you can make a new one. :)

or there is some one on ebay that sells 3d printed ones.

I just picked up a 18 inch jigsaw with a 510. Bought it to get the 510 table system. Was not really interested in the jigsaw as I knew it was discontinued and ss stopped supporting withspare parts. But it was part of the deal. The jig saw is totally seized up and will not turn. It will be interesting to disassemble and id the problem. I have never replaced bearings on anything so that could be a 1st. Also some of the drive mechanism parts are only available on 3d printing so that should be interesting too. Any thoughts or warnings before i really get started are appreciated. Duckman

I will. Digital is a wonderful thing for putting things back together. I may do video on the restoration process and post it. Duckman

anybody ever take over Bill Mayo shop/supplies.

As of today a couple people expressed interest in Bill’s Shopsmith repair parts and supplies, but didn’t followed through. With exception of a couple things, the shop remains the same.

Ann has no idea about the stuff in the shop. Shopsmith stuff was Bill’s department. Bill used to get Shopsmiths and completely break them down. If someone wanted something, he’d assemble it from scratch with new bearings & replace anything worn. He would show me on one & then have me do one myself. Bill was a master machinist in the Navy & used to build high performance racing engines.

Unless you have experience in rebuilding Shopsmiths & can recognize the parts in all the drawers, it’s like going to a warehouse with a hundred plus bins.

There are a lot of motors- a couple modified will DPDT forward/reverse switches; drawers full of bearings, casters, Gilmer clutches, and all the nuts and bolts one might need to repair/rebuild Shopsmiths.

He also had a lot of Shopsmith books & manuals. Unless someone expresses interest, it will all end up being scrapped.

Contact Ann with serious inquiries: amayo11@verizon.net She’s in Plant City, Florida.
