Scroll saw variable speed foot switch?

Post by tucsonguy »

SS sells a momentary (on-off) foot switch for the scroll saw. I was wondering if anyone had adapted a variable speed foot switch to work with the SS scroll saw replacing the variable speed power box on the saw? I did a search but found nothing... any thoughts?

Don't think it will work with the motor. It's either OFF or ON.
SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders, molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.

I am not sure why you would want to do that. If such a switch exists I would think it would be very tedious to maintain a constant speed and get the same speed every time you stopped and started the saw.

The idea is that having to take your hand off the work to adjust speed when you want to go faster (a straight section) or want to slow down (curved complex section) would be a lot easier if done with a foot pedal while you use both hands to hold the work.
