I am unsure you are actually gaining anything by selecting the tooth on the porkchop when reassembling the Mark 5 speed control.

The worm gear is single lead and the only thing unique about it's orientation is the depression for the knob set screw.

The high speed adjustment controls the 'end' position of the porkchop/control sheave/belt position at 'fast'.

Everything else is responding to that condition. The only thing that will alter an orderly change of speed through the range is the sheaves bottoming out in closed position. The low speed is limited by the control sheave bottoming out.

The only thing I see altering the range is the location of the belt on the motor pulley when the high speed adjustment is performed. Further in will decrease the speeds, but care must be exercised to prevent belt slipping too deep and getting caught at slow.

Go looking for a 750mm x 14 mm belt. (29.53" x .55")

OR 15mm (.59")

SIGH!!! Looks like 13 and 16 mm are the only choices.

OHHH! 16 mm may lead to slower speed range and decrease to possibility of jamming.

So 750 x 16??? vbelt supply has em.

I dunno. sounds like your floating sheave is not closing fully causing the drop in speed and loose belt as the control sheave opens up. I have no problem on mine with a floppy belt. It goes from 800 to over 5100 rpm with no problem or loss of power.

Just curious how the printed track has been holding up for you.

I received a prototype printed set of gear tracks yesterday. Holding next to the original set on my VII they look good but there is a difference in depth of grooves and the originals look more pointed. I plan to sent some feedback to person that printed them for me. I am not sure how to test these without drilling the rivets and installing. It was easier to print the track in 7.5" sections not the original 15" sections so more holes will need to be drilled in the bars to install and more rivets needed. The rear curvature looks good and seemed to fit well.

I did also get drive hubs for both Fox & Smithy SuperShops that fit perfectly- only mention here because I know some that watch this forum also have both types of machines. If you do/want to follow the SuperSop thread, here is link to the Lumberjocks forum-
