I expect this to be something other than gummed up threads. At least three of us have the same issue. Do we all have damaged threads. What confuses me though is the fact that I can not screw a nut onto the exposed threads. I can capture about two threads and then it locks up. The threads do not appear to be bad.

Wire brush was enough to clean the threads and out it came!

I see you also got the bit that you previously pointed to with a green arrow off. How did you do that, and is it re-usable?

My tuppence worth: while the threaded portion measures 3/8 inch and 16 TPI, it does not seem to be standard NC threads. Like others, I could not thread a 3/8 NC nut onto it. In my estimation it has something to do with the unique (?) threaded insert that is pressed (?) into the aluminum casting. (Which I also could not thread a standard 3/8 NC bolt into.) I also could not 'chase' the threads with a 3/8 NC die, it wanted to cut new portions. Which of course I did not want to do, so I stopped.
