Miter Gauge octagonal pads removal?

I am doing some long over due maintenance on a SS purchase and was going to adjust the miter gauge octagonal pads to eliminate the gauge’a rocking on the main table. I removed the set screws to get to the slotted screw to adjust the octagon pads and the heads are so messed up the slot is completely gone. I am thinking that the only way I am going to get it out and replaced to drill it out and use a ease out.

I am hoping someone out there has a better suggest on how to remove the stripped screw.

If your glides are hexagonal shape (six sided, not eight), you must have the newer style. The slotted head for removal should be on the bottom. If you don't see a slot, then they are probably just worn down and need replacing. Here is a thread that shows and explains it better.

Thanks that helps. I guess mine is the older style after all with the slotted screw. Since it’s nylon maybe I can dig it out somehow.

Tap a small flat screw driver into the nylon stub. That should allow you to simple screw it out.

Heating the end of the screwdriver first might help with forming the slot

Got them out! This afternoon I called SS to check on a order I had in to SS since February and they don’t have replacement parts so I found some nylon bolts at FleetFarm that I can adapt for new pads.
