This is primarily intended as a heads-up to anyone that has recently ordered or received this kit. I just received the Infeed/Outfeed Extension Table Brackets 555997. The Flathead screws in my kit were the wrong ones, they were 1/4" - 20 TPI but instead of being 5/8" (0.625") long, as indicated on the parts list in the instructions, they measured only 0.482" long. I didn't check first and immediately stripped the threads in my Table Bracket. The screws connect the Angle to the Table Bracket. The Angle measures 0.308" thick, so with the wrong screws this leaves about 0.174", just over three threads, of engagement. In Aluminum!

I am curious what part of the screw you measured to be '.482'.

I measured end to end:

I just received 'correct' replacements. They measured ~.612:
I'm not particularly happy about the service I've received on this. CS did not answer two emails on the subject but did eventually respond by sending the longer screws. The bracket is still stripped, they ignored that part. On my bracket I don't think they'd do anything but strip the threads a little deeper.- David

Re: Infeed/Outfeed Extension Table Brackets
You measured them correctly! I would follow up and try to make them replace the stripped bracket. I fear you will have to go over someones head to get that. Regardless try to clean up the stripped part and maybe it can be salvaged. Are the holes 'through' holes? Run tap/screw through from the back side??

I don't think so. Just call. No email.JPG wrote:You measured them correctly! I would follow up and try to make them replace the stripped bracket. Re: Infeed/Outfeed Extension Table Brackets
The holes go through and are threaded all the way. It will easily support a longer screw length, even 1" would not go all the way through. So yes it is salvageable, I'm thinking with 3/4" screws. I probably would not have even asked SS CS during normal, non-Covid, times, but I didn't have screws that would work.
CS has been very hard to reach by phone, but I agree this gives better results if/when you get through. But I don't think leaving messages works any better than email. I see others experiencing this in other threads. I've purchased quite a bit from them this year - what I see in that small sample is that a high percentage (over half in my case) of orders aren't right the first time. Result is CS involvement is needed too often, and they are over-burdened. Followed naturally by unhappy customers.

Re: Infeed/Outfeed Extension Table Brackets
My "fear" was based on the reports of recent experiences with CS and that replacing the part is not a warranty issue with the damaged part(rather the damage was the result of something the customer did). A mind that would ignore the damaged part the first response would be unlikely to have the moxie to do that on their own and would not recognize that the damage was indeed caused by an incorrect part supplied by 'them'.dusty wrote:I don't think so. Re: Infeed/Outfeed Extension Table Brackets
I received a complete replacement kit for these brackets so I am happy with that result. I think CS remains overburdened but my perception, based on a couple of emails I received while out of town, is that SS leadership is aware and engaged. I didn't go over anyone's head but had essentially given up on getting further assistance.
The only negative point I have is that the replacement kit also came with the short (~0.482") screws that were part of the original problem. This, to me, suggests a systemic problem rather than a one-off. This is not an issue for me because I am aware of the problem, and had already received a set of 5/8" screws. I've made SS aware of this, and hope they will work it out.
