Router to router plate in pictures

Hi,

More Flickr photos going away. This batch had only 21 views??? What is pictured is me doing my thing and mounting a router on the Jointech router plate. This is the same way I do it for any router plate or sub-base plate and have done a lot of them with great results.

Since Router Claus delivered a few of these system this winter maybe it is time for this post to deliver as well. I really don't want to take the time to put a lot of words with this and for some reason I think they might already be here somewhere... but I can't find them. Do feel free to ask questions.

I think this will end up with about 4 posts so have fun reading and looking.
Ring with template guide bushing hole

Adjust so arbor/shaft goes though centering washer

Note the position of the handles of the router, not all that good a fit this way

A little hard to see but the small arc and the centering hole are in about the center of the picture

First guess at depth setting. Had to move stop to go about a 1/64" deeper...

See how head of screw is below the surface. The other hole is for a safety guide pin

Mounting the router. I had to go to a a 3/4" long screw for mounting. Make sure yours are long enough too

Hi,

If you don't have the kit described I think I got it from eagleamerica or pricecutter. You have to get the kit to fit your router. I forget what they cost but I think it less then $6, then you get bit by the shipping so if you have more things you need it gets the price down per item.

I used a guide bushing with a quarter inch hole in the table insert and a quarter inch bit in the router to locate the holes for the router. Not quite as fancy but it is what I had on hand.

From the picture it is hard to tell. Does the centering washer fit in the offset in the router plate that holds bushings or do you just sort of guess you have it perfectly in the opening?

Hi,

I guess that may not be clear in the pictures but it fits in the offset... you do not have to guess. It is a very tight fit in the plate and the the hole is a very tight fit to the shaft... no play at all.

I use this same method every time I put a sub base back on a router. It's easy to do and you can't get it center much better then this.
