The planer came mounted on a stand with a motor. I’m wondering if it would pay to mount on the Mark v. What would I need to be able to mount it on the Shopsmith?

A couple of way tube clamps(SS or DIY). Coupler and hub(s) See prev post..

This is just my thoughts on the subject. Unless there is something wrong with the stand or motor I would keep it there. Save your back. The Planer is very heavy. I am glad to have the Pro Planer mounted on its own stand. If mine had been a Mark Mount Planer I would have put it on its own stand by now.

Agree 100%...I have the Mark mounted planer and it is indeed a pain in the a** to lift it, carry it over and gently sit it on top of the waytubes. If you have the room in your shop for the stand of the planer, I highly recommend keeping it. Your back will thank you. I measured the shaft where the damage is. It is 14 thousands smaller than it should be. This is the part that would support the inboard side of the pulley. I have decided to take the time to weld and machine it back to specs. I’m also going to add a keyway so I can run it on the stand. Good excuse to get the tooling I need for the metal lathe.

A keyway would not be needed if you use a flat surface on the end of the shaft for the point your pulley's set screw contacts. Make sure the flat is wide enough for the set screw's contact so the cup does not deform the metal to the rounded part of the shaft end. Just a thought.

I believe a milling machine is a keyway maker.
As a substitute, a hole(shallow dimple) and a half dog set screw properly sized. might do. Definitely better than flat/cup set screw.
A task for precise equipment.

The planer appears to be a MK V mount planer . The OP's picture shows a tapered flat. SS sold a stand to mount MK V mount planers on. I have not seen the instructions but my guess is that you just tighten the pulley down on the tapered flat like you would a drive hub. That appears what the previous owner did but not very well.
