Thanks for all the suggestions. I finally machined the damaged end down to accept a 1/2" pulley, cut a keyway and installed a good steel pulley. Replaced both head bearings which NAPA had in stock. Fixed the shaft on the drive motor and properly installed a key they was missing there. Replaced both bearing on the really old Dayton motor that the previous owner installed. Made a planer knife sharpening jig and spent a lot of time getting the blades back into shape after the prior owner tried to sharpen them with a handheld grinder. Made a knife setting jig out of aluminum from a PDF found on the forum (Will be ordering the factory one). Assembled everything and am very pleased with the results. I have owned a dewalt 735 in the past which worked great but was much louder than this machine. I love the variable feed rate. Next upgrade will be the knurled infeed roller.
