One more - That's a remarkable level of damage on the miter gauge. It looks like one of the nylon slides is probably gone.

It's pretty bad, not sure about the sliders but will check. I did file down some of the sharp points. The cuts are at 2 different angles and go a long way through the gauge. Must have made a scary sound!

Smacking with anything rarely solves any problem.(unless one KNOWS smacking is required).

Remove the retainer bracket etc. and push the entire wheel/shaft/bearing completely out of the base casting. Then determine why it does not go completely in. It DOES have the bearing retainer etc.???

Hint: the pulley has 13 grooves. The belt has 9 ribs. Guess where the belt nominally goes.

Move it forward(towards the quill end) at least one groove.

Also scary close to where the operator's hand goes! The setup looks like the blade was nowhere near the center of the table opening, either no insert or a custom one.

The Lower Wheel Assembly (ref # 28) is not seated all the way in. It should be held in place by the Bearing Retainer (ref # 31) and a bolt and washer. They are shown in the exploded drawings at the link below.

As for the Miter it looks like the previous owner made some bevel cuts and removed the table insert for the blade to clear instead of extending the quill. Always use the Miter to the right of the blade for bevel cuts. The miter for my 520 has a single small cut in it that my father-in-law did by not following that rule. See the miter on the left below. I have had several Model 10's with cuts in their miters too. I have found most can be repaired with JB Weld to fill the cut and after repainting is hardly noticeable. Yours look a little to far gone to repair.

Thanks Russ, I think you're right and I will be looking for a replacement miter gauge. I checked and the nylon glide was sheared off on that side.

I did get the bandsaw wheels in proper alignment by first taking the blade off and then "gently" tapping on the center of the lower wheel. It inched back until it made solid contact. I hooked it up and made some test cuts. I did see the bearing retainer clip but it must not be positioned correctly. I will get that fixed tomorrow. It would be helpful to see how it's supposed to look.
