Hi Marc,
The "normal" speeds for a Mark 5 are between 700 to 5200 RPMs. Your Mark 5 is running about 1 and 1 half letters higher than "normal". Knowing that you can adjust your speed accordingly without trying to further adjust the speed control itself. If the speed for an operation asks for B as the speed you would set your speed between slow and A. The one down side with your current setup is your slowest speed is almost 100 RPMs higher. Even correcting the dial as David suggested is not going to change that. Since you have already created a speed chart for your Mark 5 you can simply refer to it.
