So....pulled the motor, and clearly not the original. Westinghouse, 1/3Hp . Moving forward, I'll have to find a replacement. Seen them on e-bay. Thanks for the advice on Hp....I'll keep my eye out.

You didn't mention how you came to purchase your machine, so I'll add this to the great suggestions you have already received as you begin your search for a used motor.
Depending on where you live, Craigslist may also be a good place to search, especially if you widen your search area to as far as you are willing to drive (or as far as friends or relatives may be willing to help you buy and ship). You can even set up alerts to notify you of new listings.
You may find a complete machine or headstock for about the same cost as just a used motor, and wind up with some additional or spare parts you didn't even know you needed.
And when searching Craigslist, keep your search terms simple ... just "Shopsmith" and also try "Shop Smith" (as two words) as that may get you more results. As two words, you'll also get anything with "shop" as part of the description, but you will also be finding Shopsmiths that other shoppers may not see.
