Mark V jigsaw parts
Recently purchased a mark V....seller really went all out to accommodate me. Upon getting home I discovered the lock pin for the jigsaw upper to lower is missing. Not available on the website. Part numbers are 502288 502287 456876. Any suggestions?

Re: Mark V jigsaw parts
ChrisHan,
Welcome to the Shopsmith Forum.
The Jig Saw was discontinued long ago as the popularity of the Scroll Saw grew. Repair/replacement parts for it from Shopsmith have been pretty much sold out. The items you need will have to be found on the used market for the 502288 Tapped Wedge and 502287 Plain Wedge. The Roll Pin 456876 should be able to be found at some hardware stores and is 1/4" dia. x 1/2" long. You may have to buy more than just the wedges to get them. Possibly the lower housing. If you buy a lower housing do make sure it includes the wedges in the purchase. A plus to getting a complete lower housing would be to have additional replacement parts like the Yoke.
JPG,
Just as a FYI the wedges lock the Arm in the Lower Housing and the Roll Pin locates the arm correctly in the Lower Housing. I would have to look at a pre 1964 Manual to tell what the original part numbers were.

Re: Mark V jigsaw parts
Jigsaw comes in two parts...lower drive unit and table. Upper unit has mounting tube, guide and blade guard. There is a pin assembly that secures the two together....thats what I am missing.

Re: Mark V jigsaw parts
I went out to the shop and measured the wedges in case you wanted to try and make a pair. They are approximately 35/64" in diameter. The plain wedge is 1/2" long and the threaded wedge is 5/8" long. They are a soft alloy metal. The Screw 505583 is 1/4" - 20 x 1-1/2" long using a 5/32" Allen Wrench. The pictures below show the wedge parts and the wedge parts assembled.

Re: Mark V jigsaw parts
JPG,
You are correct when you added the ? after the washer. It is a 1/4" washer with an outside diameter less than the wedges.
ChrisHan,
Making your own replacement I would think aluminum rod may be a suitable material. You might be able to use 1/2" rod stock which may sit a bit loose in the Jig Saw Base but still provide enough grip to keep the arm in place. You could use a slightly larger rod stock (9/16") if you can find it and "size" it down to the correct diameter to have a better fit. When I measured the wedges, they are just under 9/16" but test fitting as you go will get them the needed diameter.

Re: Mark V jigsaw parts
A 14 or 15mm solid rod might be closer to exact size going by chapmanruss's dimensions. Unless you take measurement of inner channel of head with a pair of calipers. Just a suggestion, sorry I don't have the jigsaw or I would mic it for you.
