Paint for repainting SS: Aerosol can vs. Mix for air powered spray gun

So I'm repainting a SS and I was wondering which was the better choice for the paint: A paint in an Aerosol can (if so, what type), or a paint that I can put in an air powered spray gun (what mix?)

10ER, it's in the process of being restored so I'm going to paint it. I was going to do the traditional color but decided that the aesthetics outweighed the historical value.

Ok! So no 'battleship gray'! About any thing goes. If you were doing a Mark 5/V then Rustoleum hammertone colors in aerosol can work well. Rustoleum whatever color you want (asthetically) in a spray can would be good. Really it is up to you!

Clean and prime if you strip original paint. Citrusstrip works well (over night) and is 'safer' than some of the harsher removers.

And check out the 10er that Heathicus did you can see what I think is a really nice color, but again that is just my opinion. See post #17 for his paint information.

has posted the Home Depot and other another companies(sorry for got which other paint store) numbers to get that original color.

Cool, thanks a lot. Black is looking awfully tempting now. I might just do it because it won't show dark smudges as well (ie. paint, lube)

Generally speaking, the paints in the rattle cans are not as good as the paints in the pot cans.

Yes, sawdust is a problem, but it can be blown off with an air hose, unlike grease.
