Mine changes from time to time - Usually it is a photo of something I built. Clicking on the avatar gets one to the personal photo, which is also usually another completed piece.

Could be a carving, a piece of furniture, a landscape ....

Mine's just an older photo of my shop. My shop has changed since this photo was taken, hopefully for the better. You can barely make out any of the tools, but you can see my SS in it.

Mine is pretty simple, I think horses are cool.

I wanted horses all of my life but brutal practicality forced me to not have any. After I had been retired from farming a short while I decided it was now or never... We don't have to work so mostly we don't.

We took in two rescue horses to foster and ended up adopting them. One is an older quarter horse and the other is a smallish hackney horse. You can see them on my profile page. This winter when things were becoming an over-load for the rescue folks we took in an "off the track" thoroughbred about 5 years old. She was skin and bones and looked just awful. She had been rescued before and put in a foster home but was badly neglected there. They went back with law enforcement and took her back and brought her to us. That was late February. Today she is becoming truly beautiful and really shows the thoroughbred look. When she runs it is like music.

I would like to see her put on another 75 or 100 pounds but that needs to be done slowly and in a controlled manner so she builds muscle instead of fat.
We are setting some things up now so we can rescue about 5 or 6 a year on our own instead of through the rescue folks. We have a good bit of pasture and bale our own hay so we can feed them out fairly cheaply.

I enjoy seeing and hearing of projects as well as equipment related discussions. Fact is I value the comments and opinions of other forum users. Yes it even saddens me when myself or another user bruise the feelings of another person.

As for myself I have created numerous projects that I feel are too insignificant to share. Sometimes I feel great that a job has been completed but not elated enough to take a picture. Many of my projects have to do with maintaining a house and making small items that make my work day easier. I suspect no one else would find value in such inventions. Further I would prefer working with wood over shrinking those pics so they will fit.

Bottom line:

I CAN'T WAIT TO GET BACK INTO THE SHOP AND CREATE SAWDUST.

Yes I did shout and yes I am thankful for these discussions that help me stay sane until the doc allows me in the shop.

Jim, whatever you do heed the works of your doctor and your physical therapist. I sorta pushed the guidelines for return to the shop and I am paying a small price for that today.

While your activities are restricted, you could take a bunch of photos out in your shop or wherever and practice reducing them so that they could be posted. This would eliminate one problem or should we call it a limitation.

Also, be aware that if you take lower resolution photos with many of today's digital cameras the results are a photo that is compatible to the web. I use an Olympus Stylus 710. In the low resolution mode it produces a photo (640x480) that requires no manipulation to post.

Thanks Dusty. I am staying out of the shop. Yesterday they began a very small amount of more aggressive PT. Today I am nearly in tears. Perhaps we can both profit from listening to those pro's who are wiser than us sawdust types. Stay healthy my friend I need your wisdom and good humor. fjimp

Hi Everyone,

My avatar is a photo of a "grandpa project", my favorite type of project. Construction of the airplane rocker was based on a Workbench Magazine plan that I modified. It is the largest woodworking project that I have attempted to date, most of my toymaking is of the smaller variety.

As the late Norm Marshall said "Why do I make toys? Because the smiles are worthwhile!"
