Has anyone mounted 6" jointer?

I am thinking about buying this 6" Craftsman jointer and mounting it on my greenie. My thinking is to bolt it to 3/4" plywood and use the exetension table legs and bracket to mount it on the Shopsmith. My major concern is that it may be too high to line up with the lower auxillary spindle.
The pulley is on a 5/8" shaft.

Has anyone else done something like that?

Or, you could just watch for a WoodMaster 6" jointer that fits the mounting posts without any adapting. Harder to come by, but if you can wait, hold out for the 4-knife head instead of the 3-knife head.

Have you considered setting/securing it ON the Way Tubes? You would then probably need to 'raise' it to align shafts.

Well, I just got home from work and measured the shaft on the SS jointer. It has a 1/2 diameter shaft. So how would I get a drive hub on the Craftsman jointer?

Putting it on the way tubes is another option I had thought of. One of my neighbors has a welding shop. I was also cinsidering having him weld the posts on the Craftsman jointer, but to many issues to deal with. I think I'll pass on that jointer for now.

Shopsmith has drive hubs that fit both 1/2" and 5/8" shafts.

I have one of the old old couplers and hubs (see picture). In my kit the SPT 1/2" hubs have 5 grooves and the 5/8" spindle hubs have 4 grooves. Meaning that the coupler can only go one way. The bandsaw and the belt sander are two of the SPT's that have 5/8" input shafts. You want a hub with 5 grooves.

Thanks Rob. I didn't know that as I don't have a bandsaw or belt sander yet!
My better half just gave me the go ahead to get the jointer.

The Coupler hubs come in four varieties(there are other slight variations).

Two varieties have 5 grooves and the other two have 4 grooves.

The 5 grooved ones are intended to be mounted on the spt. There is one to fit a 1/2" shaft(ss jointer and one of the 'jig' saws) and one to fit 5/8" shafts(everything else).

The 4 grooved ones are intended to be used on the headstock output shafts. The longer one(has a bore all the way through and an elongated shoulder) is intended to be mounted on the UPPER shaft with the shoulder towards the headstock end of the shaft. The shorter with a blind bore is intended to be mounted on the idler shaft for use with the ss jointer and compressor(not currently available).

The coupler is mounted on these hubs with the spring end(4 nub) towards the headstock and the open end(5 nub) towards the spt.

Tell me about this jointer. Has it been mounted on a shopsmith by someone? Are you sating it fits right in? I never heard of WoodMaster.
