Hello, dear woodworkers!
Does anyone know how to make a wooden stand for my Shopsmith bandsaw? I cannot figure out how to mount the bandsaw on a piece of wood. I think I will need to drill two holes to allow the mounting tubes to go through the top board.
Any suggestions would be very helpful.
Thanks!

If I was doing what I believe you are, I'd use this:

The picture shows a Strip Sander but these work on all of the SPT.

You wood need to drill holes in a block of wood thick enough to keep it from tipping, and then mount the block of wood to a table or a set of legs so it wood not tip over.dalycity wrote:Hello, dear woodworkers!

Or... go to your stash of Shopsmith stuff and take an extra end mount down off of the shelf and use that.

Then you would have the locking mechanism too.

Oh! My suggestion was for storage, knot for using!greitz wrote:Don't the mounting tubes need to be firmly bolted to something to reduce vibration? I had a bad vibration problem with the bandsaw once, and traced it down to the mounting tube locking mechanism being mis-adjusted and tightening on only one tube, instead of both of them.
