10" is the diameter. The actual depth of cut has to be less than 1/2 the diameter which is called the radius. So 10" blade would have a 5 inch radius. Then you must substract the bore, the blade securing washer/nut, and the table thickness. On a Shopsmith the depth of cut is 3 1/4" at 0 degrees tilt of the table. Many dedicated cabinet saws actually have less depth of cut than the Shopsmith.

Incidently most major saw blade manufactures will bore their blades to whatever bore size you specify. Also as someone mentioned most blade reshapeners can do this also.

Frankly I have had great experiences with my Shopsmith blades. My blade resharpener always comments on the quality so I don't think you can go to far wrong using a Shopsmith blade.

The one that just came is 3-3/8 long (like a former 505506 Dado). It includes a 5/8" spacer, like my other "Universal" arbor and Dado arbor have.
The new one has a 1-1/4" (x 1-1/2) body, like one of my others (the third is 1"). My other two 505506's are 3-1/8" long.

A "Glitch": the cleanest one is the new one. At least one of the others definitely came with the "Universal, 505506" label (I think both). It may be possible that the second oldie was named "dado" arbor (but also 505506).
What fascinates me with this new version is that I had heard that the difference that made the "Moldy/Dado" arbor was the additional length, 3-3/8 vs 3-1/8. Yet the on/line description has now been changed to 3-1/8, but the "Moldy/Dado" arbor I just got is indeed 3-3/8.

I checked and could not find any indication on my caliper that it was made in the Bermuda Triangle.

Very Interesting. I have checked my arbors with the intention of being some help. But it did not work that way.

I have the Shaper Arbor (555117) and three identical Molder/Dado Arbors. The Molder/Dado Arbors are all 3 3/8" long (overall length).

The Shopsmith catalog reads slightly different.

Here’s a great all-around Arbor for use with Dado Blades or the Shopsmith Molder Head.
Includes a 3-1/8” long 5/8” diameter threaded shaft, two steel washers, a 3/4” thick spacer, a locking tongue-washer and a hex nut. Fits all MARK V models.

The threaded shafts, on mine, are only 1 7/8" long. The overall length is 3 3/8". The spacers are 5/8" thick. I also have locking tongued washers with each.

Why do I need tongued washers? These all mount in the same location as a table saw blade (ie, they rotate in the same direction as a saw blade).

I have no idea when the 505506 changed from 3 3/8" to 3 1/8" long or why?

Ironically I ordered the new Moldy/Dado arbor, even though I already have two "Universal" (or moldy/dado) arbors, specifically because the catalog at the moment I ordered it listed 505506 as 3-3/8" long and with a 3/4" spacer, neither of which I had. At least I got the 3-3/8 unit. Frankly, if I ordered another 505506 Moldy/Dado Arbor today I have no idea what might come in the mail. (not that it matters.)

Your moldy/Dadoes are 3-3/8 long, and the catalog used to describe the 505506 as 3-3/8 long.
The 505506 used to be 3-1/8, then changed to 3-3/8, now back to 3-1/8, both in the Catalog and in reality. Don't know why.

The 5/8" sections: 3-3/8 version has longer threaded area, otherwise ~ same.

As for the tongued or keyed washers, since the 5/8 arbor threads are cut in the reverse of the left-hand SS 1-1/4 arbors the keyed washer is required, Always next to the nut, to prevent the nut from slipping loose (in effect, since the washer is keyed to the spindle it helps "key" the nut to it also). The Shopsmith Bulletin label used ALL CAPS when they pointed out the necessity of using that washer and in making dang sure the nut is put on Tight! (unlike the SS 1-1/4 arbors).

Notice the different arbor shaft diameters?

I bought an excellent blade from Anderson Saw Company in Hawthorne, CA. Family owned and operated. They bored out the hole to fit a shopsmith. I was cutting 3/4 inch plywood and none of my SS blades were doing the job very well. They manufacture commerical saw blades. Very good and heavy duty.

Which blade did you acquire?
Since you mention the company I guess it's fair to assume the new blade has solved your plywood cutting problems. Wow, that sounds sweet (I hate cutting 3/4 ply).

I still use(although seldom lately) a 8"/5/8" arbor PLYWOOD blade by vermont american. I purchased it WITH my Goldie! It HAS served me well! Still cuts smooth with no splintered edges. Tear out at very end of cut has sometimes occurred. Although it is 'hollow' ground only slightly less than 2 inches in from the outer circumference, it has handled 45 degree cuts on 1" plywood.

What did she order?

She had ordered the shaper and it came with a few parts missing.

She also had a problem when ordering the dado blade and the table insert. She received the dado plate but no blade.
