Anyone know if there are plans available to build something similar to this jig?

I don't really cut enough miters to justify $100, but if I can make it for $20 or so, I'm all for it.

Sorry, I can knot tell you of any plans, but it has been my experience that jigs are designed and made to order by the user of the jig. A little experimenting and a lot of your time and you should be able to make something that will work.

Firstly - I have been very happy with my Miter Pro! I find it to be a very quick set up to make exact 45&#186]any angle[/U]. It sells for around $30, but you have to order the one made to fit Shopsmiths. To learn more about MiterSet, go to the search function and type in MiterSet. You'll get 14 Threads. The oldest (bottom several) will be the most informative.

If you want to build one like a Miter Pro here's a suggestion:

- Stack (glue and screw) a couple of stable wood products like plywood.
- Saw out a PERFECT square about 3" X 3". (This will allow room between the miter slot and the saw blade)
- Mount a miter bar on the square so it runs from corner to opposite corner.
- attach two legs

Your miter bar will probably wind up a little bit off, but that shouldn't matter if your square base is exact. Cut one side of the miter on one leg of the jig and the other side of the miter on the other leg and the result will give you a square. A half º will never show.

Can't read the date Dec. 7 without thinking about Pearl Harbor!

It did not go above freezing here today. Going to be in the 'teens tonight and in some places it will be single digits. I worked in that today and I get to work in that all week.

At least I get to work, unlike some that I know.
