aj....to get the pics to appear open within the post, after you've uploaded, place the cursor where you want the pic to appear then click on the paperclip. Then click on the photo and will appear in your post as:

Give it a try.

Also, can you post a photo a two that are not so close up. I'd like to see a wider angle perspective of this mystery part.

More on the Greenie mystery part

Post by ajhicks1 »

I decided to tear down another Greenie today. As I took the Gilmer drive out of the machine, I discovered that the Greenie with the mystery part originally had the clutch system. The large spacer and thin washer from the clutch system are the same parts remaining on the shaft of the mystery Greenie.

I discovered that the normal Greenie Gilmer belt is totally different from the belt in the mystery Greenie. Also, someone manufactured a pulley and shaft assembly for the idler shaft. The idler shaft was not remanufactured long enough to allow full speed control from the machine. I removed and remade the idler pulley assembly to look and measure to the same length of the Greenie that I disassembled today.

We will see if the machine runs well tomorrow. For MickyD, I could not recreate the pics as you suggested. Some computer tricks do not work well for me. I would post more pics but the effort seems rather nonproductive as I have determined the mystery parts are special manufactured and not by Shopsmith.
